The A319 program was launched at the Paris Airshow in June 1993 on the basis of just six orders placed by ILFC late in 1992 and the predicted better prospects of the commercial virtual airliner market, which were certainly realised by Easyjet Virtual Airlines for use with Flight Simulator. The first A319 for Easyjet Virtual Airlines airline order came in 1992 for a total of 33 samples, whose order for six were received in February 1994. Since then Easyjet Virtual Airlines has been extensively using the Airbus A319 for domestic and United States flights in Flight Simulator versions FS2002, Fs2004 and FSX.
The A319 is a minimum change, shortened derivative of the highly successful flight simulator A320. Easyjet Virtual Airlines also operates a large number of A320 aircraft along side the A319 fleet. The major difference between the A320 and A319 in Flight Simulator and the real world is that the latter is shorter by seven fuselage frames, while in almost all other respects the A319 and A320 are identical in both flight simulator and the real world.
